Allison is trying out for the Issaquah select soccer league. As a parent and former soccer player it’s hard to watch from the sidelines without shouting advice.

Easter 2012
Easter was special this year as it was the second day home for Rosebud, our new Golden Retriever. The girls had a great time hunting for Easter eggs while Christine and Rosebud watched. Rosebud also got her first bath. Christine and I remember fondly giving Bisco, our previous Golden, his first bath. Rosebud and Bisco had pretty much the same reaction: “Please get me out of here!”. Rosebud spends a lot of time sleeping and “going potty”.
Welcome Home Rosebud
Early Saturday morning we took a drive out to pick up our 6 week old Golden Retriever. At this point, we didn’t know which Golden Retriever Wayne had picked out for us. The family had expressed a preference for the female Golden Retriever with the “pink” collar.
We arrived at breeders around 10A in the morning. Wayne met us at the kennel and explained that he had two choices for us: pink and teal green. Both dogs were female and going to be a balance between a couch potato and a high energy sporting dog. From our previous visits we fell in love with pink. Christine and I remember a similar decision point for Bisco; we settled for the coach potato in Bisco’s case. Fortunately, closed on pink, soon to be Rosebud, before another couple came who also wanted pink. Dad had to explain to the other couple that pink had already been spoken for. The woman was visibly crushed. Good thing we came early.
Now a little background on Rosebud’s parents. She was born on February 12, 2012. Bacardi was her father and Sera was her mom. Sera was born on August 6, 2009. Her AKC registration number is SR58424402. Sera’s father was Chuckanut’s Captain. Captain’s dad was Andy who won Best in Breed for the Sporting Group at Westminster dog show in 2006.
Lucky Visits for a Week
Lucky visited us for a week while the Laverings went skiing in Bachelor. Caring for Lucky was good training and preparation for taking Rosebud home the following weekend. We learned how to block off the kitchen and made a run to Babies R Us to get some gates. Also, we stocked up on chew toys. As it turned out Lucky’s favorite chew toy was Allison.
