Soccer Tournament Day 2
Second day of Allison’s soccer tournament. Saturday had two games. Allison plays keeper for one half of each game. In the first game they won. Allison stopped 3 of 4 attempts. They played girls comparable in age. They lost the second game though their opponents were much older.
Hopefully today’s game is more like the first.
Seattle Storm and Allison Playing Soccer
It was a busy week. We attended the Seattle Storm game and Allison had her first soccer tournament. It was fun to see the Storm again after a year off. We miss Lauren Jackson who is playing with her Australian Olympic team. She plans to return after the Olympics. Allison’s first soccer tournament was this weekend. At this point, all of the feedback about standing around in the sun all weekend to watch your daughter play soccer hit home. We quickly realized that we needed to buy a canopy so we didn’t bake in the sun.
Allison played keeper for one half of the game. This made both Christine and I very nervous as they were playing older girls (7, 8, and 9 year olds). Allison did well despite their opponent’s overwhelming offense.
Lake Wenatchee
Lake Wenatchee
This was our third year camping at Lake Wenatchee. Overall, the kids loved the camping experience…
– They rode all around the North Campground at the State Park with their friends.
– They walked then rode down to the beach on their bikes.
– We popped popcorn and made smores.
– We watched Leapfrog DVDs and ate snacks to and from the park.
Despite the lack of sleep and packing/unpacking/cleaning process, it was another successful camping trip. The kids are already asking if we’re going to go again next year!
Allison and the Bus
Katherine had mini sports camp last week in the mornings. As a result, Allison got to run around with Patty and her choice of activity? It was riding public transportation around Bellevue. ๐
Allison’s 3rd Birthday Weekend
Allison’s 3rd Birthday Weekend
Party planning began last month when I asked Allison what she wanted to do for her 3rd birthday. She said promptly, “bike on the driveway with my friends.” So, we planned a bicycle-themed party for little friends that consisted of:
– making foam license plates for bikes/trikes
– decorating butter cookies in the shape of bicycles, hearts, flowers
– pinning name on the road (pin the tail on the donkey)
– hitting a pinata
The kids had a blast decorating cookies. We had frosting, decorator frosting pens, and sprinkles on the table. The kids and adults used all the cookies and supplies – and took the cookies home with them.
Also memorable was our pinata. Steve hung it from his basketball hoop and provided the kids with a piece of PVC pipe. They must have each hit that pinata 5 or 6 times to no avail. So, he offered his baseball bat to Allison. Unfortunately, they whacked the pinata so hard it flew up and hit the basketball backboard. I think the swing also hurt Allison’s shoulder, and she cried for several minutes afterwards. Needless to say, one of the kids finally got the pinata down intact. The dads broke it apart for them.
